The adhesive bonding of the closure strips to the bag’s film is defective and may detach completely or partially, causing the product to lose its function and individual magnets to fall out. This might impose a risk of serious injury or death if ingested. When two or more high-powered magnets are swallowed, the ingested magnets can attract to each other, or to another metal object, and become lodged in the digestive system. This can result in perforations, twisting and/or blockage of the intestines, infection, blood poisoning and death.

Recall details
This recall involves the Fidlock Hermetic Dry Bag Medi, Item number D-11111A-F0000(PTTT) with lot number 2409140930201.
The Hermetic product family features a water- and dust-tight closure mechanism consisting of closure strips with embedded permanent magnets. The embedded permanent magnets in these closure strips ensure that the system closes automatically.
During the manufacturing process, the sealing strips containing the magnets are firmly bonded to the outer walls of the bag, forming a solid composite of sealing strips, magnets, and film.
A manufacturing defect occurred in the affected lot, causing the closure strips to become brittle and fragile and/or resulting in a faulty bond between the closure strips and the bag walls. This leads to partial or complete detachment of the closure strips, and the magnets embedded in the closure strips can easily fall out.
It is assumed that all products from the affected batch are defective or that the defect will become apparent with continued use.
To identify the affected items, check the Lot number.
The lot number is located on the back of the sealing strip. (See Figure 2)
Only products with the batch number 240914093201 are affected by the recall.
Remedy
Consumers should immediately stop using their recalled their Hermetic Dry Bag Medi, store the product in a safe place out of children’s reach, or dispose of it in such a way that the product or its components cannot accidentally come within children’s reach under any circumstances.
Consumers who have purchased the relevant products should, as a general rule, contact the retailer from whom they purchased the product. It is up to the retailer to determine whether to replace the product or refund the purchase price, and how the exchange or refund will be processed.
Consumers can also contact FIDLOCK to receive either a replacement product or a full refund equal to the product’s new value in the form of a gift card for the FIDLOCK online store https://www.fidlock.us/ under recall_2608@fidlock.com.
For documentation purposes and to facilitate processing, FIDLOCK recommends rendering the affected product completely unusable—for example, by cutting open the bag—and then photographing it so that both the unusable product and the lot number on the bars are clearly visible. The consumer should please inform FIDLOCK of their preference: whether they would like a replacement with an equivalent product or a gift card for the FIDLOCK online store. However, when exchanging the affected product, FIDLOCK cannot guarantee that the equivalent product will be identical in color or size to the affected product.
After contacting FIDLOCK, the replacement and its delivery—or the online order—will be processed efficiently based on the photograph(s) and the end consumer’s preference.
Incidents/Injuries
The company has received 4 reports (with a total amount of 5 complained bags) on the adhesive bonding of the closure strips to the bag’s film being defective, including reports of detached magnets. No magnet ingestions or injuries have been reported
